Control or Mute Apple Boot Chime with StartupSound.prefPane!

If you have a mac, I'm sure you are familiar with the chime sound that it makes automatically every time that it boots up.

Now, there is a great, simple, and free piece of software that puts you in control of your start-up chime! Instead of needing to hear that sound every time your machine boots up, with StartupSound.prefPane you can control the volume of the chime, or mute it all together.

This software is available now from Macupdate at http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/16425. Enjoy the silent boot!

(P.S. Some users have reported that even after they install the software, it took a couple reboots for it to actually mute the chime. So if you install it and still hear the chime upon reboot, try restarting again and hopefully it will perform just the way you set it.

Three Cheers!
